:: SDFEE Ploiesti ::

   The perspective of the over one century tradition that SDFEE Ploiesti gives us trust in the positive evolution of the Prahova County energetics in the competitive environment to occur, as a strong partner in electricity distribution to all categories of consumers. The Ploiesti Cdenter supplies 133 great consumers, 11,983 small consumers and 292,443 household consumers.
   The beauty of the Prahova Valley has attracted many investors whose industrial objectives have required electrification. Electric lighting was used for the first time in 1882 at the Paper Factory in Busteni, then in 1883 at the Slanic salt mine, and in August 1884 the Electric Works of the Royal Peles Castle was commissioned. The appearance and development of industry and of the first refineries have represented the premises of setting up, in 1898, the Romanian Society for Electric and Industrial Enterprises, the main founders being the company Lahmeyer LTD of Frankfurt on Main, 2 banks and a few Romanian persons. It is the first society whose purpose ws the energetic activity in the Prahova zone.
   In 1899 The Hydroelectric Station of Sinaia was commissioned, which was the greatest station in the country at that moment. In the same year the construction of the first interconnection line between 2 Romanian electric stations started: CHE Sinaia and CTE Doftana.
   On 5 May 1900 the Electric Works in Ploiesti started being built, on Mihai Bravu St., at the same time with the construction works of the network in the central area of the city and on the boulevard.
In 1902, on 11 May, The Romanian Society for Electric and Industrial Enterprises changed its name into ELECTRICA – a Romanian joint stock venture, and on 16 February 1921 in ELECTRICA – a Romanian Anonymous Society.

   ELECTRICA has dominated the electricity production and distribution in the Upper Valley of Prahova river from Campina and the oil sites around, all the way to Sinaia. In time it has extended the electric networks to Brasov and Bucuresti, to Targoviste in the west and up to Berca, in Buzau, to the east, being the greatest Electricity Society in the country for a few decades.
