Electric Power Distribution

The structure of Electrica SA includes three Electricity Distribution Subsidiaries (FDEE), namely:

  • Societatea de Distribuție a Energiei Electrice Muntenia Nord (SDEE Muntenia Nord), part of Electrica Group, is the electricity distribution operator serving the Northern area of Muntenia. The company operates in Vrancea, Galaţi, Buzău, Brăila, Prahova and Dâmbovița counties, having an operating area of approximately 29,000 km².
    With 120 years of tradition, SDEE Muntenia Nord offers services to approximately 1.32 million consumers, through a distribution network with a length of over 70.700 kilometers and a team of more than 2,260 employees.

 

  • Societatea de Distribuție a Energiei Electrice Transilvania Nord (SDEE Transilvania Nord), part of Electrica Group, is the electricity distribution operator serving the North-West area of Transylvania. The company operates in Satu Mare, Maramureș, Bistrița Năsăud, Bihor, Sălaj and Cluj counties, covering an operating area of approximately 34,160 km².
    With 120 years of traditon, SDEE Transilvania Nord offers services to approximately 1.26 million consumers, through a distribution network with a length of over 68.700 kilometers and a team of more than 2,240 employees.

 

  • Societatea de Distribuție a Energiei Electrice Transilvania Sud (SDEE Transilvania Sud), part of Electrica Group, is the electricity distribution operator serving the Central and Southern part of Transilvania. The company operates in Alba, Brașov, Covasna, Harghita, Mureș and Sibiu counties, covering an operating area of approximately 34,100 km².
    With 120 years of traditon, SDEE Transilvania Sud offers services to approximately 1.13 million consumers, through a distribution network with a length of over 57,300 kilometers and a team of more than 2.120 employees.

 

The amount of distribution installations held by the three Electricity Distribution Branches on December 31st 2014, is impressive:

 158 060 km of overhead electrical distribution power lines, out of which:

  • 6 585 km of high-voltage network (110 kV);
  • 34 488 km of medium-voltage network (6, 10 and 20 kV);
  • 116 987 km of low-voltage networks (0.4 kV).

 

37 825 km of underground electrical distribution power lines, out of which:

  • 69 km of high-voltage network (110 kV);
  • 10 328 km of medium-voltage network (6, 10 and 20 kV);
  • 27 428 km of low-voltage networks (0.4 kV).
  • 438 substations with a total installed power of 21 152 MVA, out of which:
  • 312 110/kV/MV substations;
  • 126 MV/MV substations;
  • 27 029 transformer points.

 

The total number of users currently connected to the electrical distribution grid is of about 3 624 000.

The electricity distributed by “Electrica” SA to the users connected to its electrical distribution networks was of about 16 TWh in 2014, representing about 39% of the electricity amount distributed at national level.
